Stars and constellations have been mentioned in the Quran

Assalam oalaikum,
All the praise belongs to Allah (saw) who is the creator of this entire universe.
I would like to clarify at the onset that this blog is about ilm-e-saat or role of time in amalyaat. Kindly do not jump to the wrong conclusion that it tells you how to know about the unseen or ghaeb.
The knowledge about the future is limited to Allah (saw) alone. This blog is related to the transit of planets alone.
Secondly, there are a lot of people who find it bewildering that how can the movement of planets affect us on earth, in any way. We all know that nature is a very complex inter-related chain comprising of many species
linked in the food chain. Likewise there exists an inter-related system in the cosmos. It is a general belief amongst different cultures of the worlds that the entire cosmos is inter-related and inter-dependent.
Allah (saw) says in the Qur’an, “Do not the non-believers see that the heavens and the earths were joined together (as a single mass), before We clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? (21:30)
This narrative in the Qur’an makes it absolutely clear that everything in this universe is inter-connected, somewhat similar to the leaves of some huge trees that are different in sizes but have a common root.
Allah ta’ala says in the Holy Quran that, “And He hath constrained the night and the day and the sun and the moon to be of service unto you, and the stars are made subservient by His command. Lo! Herein indeed are portents for people who have sense”. This verse proves that the sun and moon affect our lives.
In Surah Al-Anaam, verse 97 Allah (swt) says, “It is He Who maketh the stars (as beacons) for you, that ye may guide yourselves, with their help, through the dark spaces of land and sea: We detail Our Signs for people who know. This verse also shows that we are living in an inter-related universe.
There are many people who do not believe in constellations and that planetary movements can affect us in any way. Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: “When the sun eclipsed in the lifetime of Allah’s Apostle an announcement was made that a prayer was to be offered in congregation.” [Bukhari, 2.155]
The essence of this prayer lies in the fact that a Muslim seeks refuge from his Allah (swt) from evilness and sinfulness. Had there been no link between a solar eclipse and human beings on earth then why would Prophet Mohammad (saw) feel the need to offer a special namaz to seek Allah’s (saw)’s protection?
I have tried to prove the science of stars or ilm-e-falkiyat with the help of the Quran and aHadith. If someone still has a doubt about it then may Allah (swt) guide him, Ameen.

is Ilm-e-Saat (role of time) in amalyat?

Assalam oalaikum,
Ilm-e-Saat helps us to understand the daily planetary transit. Knowledge about our good or bad planetary transits helps us to know whether we should advance in life or retreat, move ahead or stay still, be cautious or be relaxed. When the planetary transit is favorable, things work out for us and conversely, when the planetary transit is adverse, things go wrong. If you plan to do something in life then selecting the right saat or the right time is very important so that your work gets done successfully. However, simply taking into consideration the role of time does not mean that we are trying to what future holds for us. Let me clarify once again that role of time has nothing to do with knowledge of the unknown or ghaeb. It is only Allah (swt) who has complete knowledge about the unseen. The purpose of ilm-e-saat is only to guide us about the right time for doing things in life.
If any man claims to have knowledge about the future with 100% guarantee then he is lying.
Allah says in the Holy Quran:
The meteorological department also makes forecasts about the weather, whether it is going to rain or not. The marine department sends warning about sea storms occasionally. However, these departments also do not have any knowledge about the future. What they do is to merely speculate. They cannot be 100% sure about their forecasts, as such. Similarly, the ilm-e-saat also gives us a rough idea about which will be an auspicious time for starting something new in life. The predictions can either be right or wrong. They can just give us some guidance and if they do hit the bull’s eye then we can protect ourselves from a lot of loss.

The planets in detail

Assalam oalaikum,
The magnitude or expanse of the universe is beyond our imagination for sure. Here I am going to discuss only those planets of our solar system that affect our lives, namely, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
According to their basic characteristics the planets are divided into two broad categories, namely: natural malefic (i.e. those planets which have harmful or evil effects or influences on us) and natural benefic (i.e. those planets that have beneficial and positive effects or influences).
The Natural Benefics include the Moon, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury whereas the Natural Malefics include the Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu.
However, this is quite a broad and general division and gets vastly modified on the basis of the planet’s house ownership, placement etc.
The planets have “aspects” or nazar i.e. they “look” at the other planets and signs. All planets look at the planet or sign that is placed diametrically opposite to them, i.e., in the 7th house from them.

Moon: Moon represents our inner world of intuitions, feelings and
emotions. The Moon indicates how we shall spontaneously react at a most instinctive level. The Moon is in a new constellation after every two days. It is the ruling planet of the 4rth zodiac sign, i.e. Cancer. The Moon governs Monday.
Mercury: It remains in a constellation till 15 days and its synodic cycle lasts up to 128 days. A synodic cycle is the time required for a celestial body within the solar system, such as a planet or the Moon to return to the same or more or less the same position relative to the Sun as observed by a viewer on the Earth. Mercury is unable to do anything by itself. It is ineffective and weak when seated alone. It reinforces the planet with which it is seated. If a planet is not placed favorably then its evil effects will be enhanced. If there is a favorable planet then its effects shall get a boost. If there is no other enemy planet seated along with Mercury then it becomes very positive and constructive, if placed with the Sun. If some enemy planet is present too, then Mercury’s effect shall become unfavorable. Mercury symbolizes our thinking process. Mercury governs Wednesday and is the ruling planet for Gemini.
Venus: This planet stays in a constellation till 25 days and its synodic cycle lasts up to 225days and two hours. Venus governs Friday and is the ruling planet of Libra. It symbolizes love, harmony, artistic abilities and refinement.
Sun: This is the governing star of the zodiac sign, Leo and the gemstone, Peridot. It stays in a constellation till 30 days. The sun governs Sundays and it represents our ego and individuality.
Mars: The usual stay of Mars
in a sign or around 40 days. This is the governing star of the zodiac sign, Leo and it symbolizes energy and courage. It stays in a constellation till 30 days. Mars governs Tuesdays.
Jupiter: This planet represents expansiveness and it has a synodic period of 399 days and a revolution period of 11.86 years. It governs Thursdays and rules over Sagittarius.
Saturn has a revolution period of 29.5 years approximately and it stays in one zodiac sign till around 30 days. It represents knowledge therefore under its influence people gain knowledge, though not easily. It governs Saturdays and is the governing planet for Capricorn.

Detail about constellations

Assalam oalaikum

Stars have been important to people in their daily lives, since the time history was first recorded. The stars helped the ancient people in making plans of planting their crops, guiding navigators and also as a way of telling time. Lots of wonder and mystery was linked with the stars.
Astrology and Astronomy were twin sciences that developed side by side. Initially, astrology was the more significant of the two. However, in modern era, the science of astronomy has proved categorically that astrology (while based on sound astronomical theories) is worthless when it comes to analyzing personalities and foretelling the future. However, many people today still continue to believe in astrology, thereby making astrology a lucrative business for some.
Here is some information about the 12 zodiac constellation: To begin with, a constellation can be defined as a group of stars that form a pattern in the night sky. The zodiac is the band or belt of constellations through which the Sun, Moon, and planets seem to transit across the sky.
The 12 zodiac signs have 4 chief categories, namely:
Fire–Aries, Leo and Sagittarius;
Air–Gemini, Libra and Aquarius,
Water–Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces,
Earth.

A general description about the zodiac constellations:
Aries is the first amongst the 12 Zodiacal Constellations and marks the beginning of spring. Aries can be best viewed in the night sky during the month of November. Aries does not have major deep sky objects. It only has a few stars of interest, particularly the triangle made up of the main stars in the constellation.
Taurus lies along the winter Milky Way. Hence, it contains many objects, mostly primarily open clusters. Taurus is an Autumn constellation and it can be best observed in the night sky during the month of December.
Gemini is a fine open cluster that can be easily seen in binoculars and shining with stars through a telescope. Gemini is a winter constellation and is best viewed during night in the month of January.
The zodiacal Constellation of Cancer is a bright and open cluster that can be easily seen with the naked eye from a dark sky location. Cancer is a Winter Constellation, and can be best seen in the night sky in February.
The galaxy of Leo is comparatively large and bright and has a brilliant center and a stellar core. Leo is a Winter Constellation and can be viewed at night, in the month of March. Leo is situated at such a great distance from the Milky Way that we cannot gaze into extragalactic space.
Virgo is a Spring Constellation that can be best viewed during the month of April. This is one of the best showpiece objects in the sky.
Libra is a Spring Constellation that is best seen in the night sky during the month of May.
Scorpio is a Spring Constellation and can be best seen in the night sky in June. Scorpio is a large and extensive constellation, which lies near the Milky Way. It holds many bright, open and globular star clusters.
Sagittarius is a Summer Constellation. It can be best viewed in the night sky, during the month July. Like all the other constellations, Sagittarius too can be best seen in a dark sky, outside the city. However, because its stars are fairly bright, one can make out the basic shape even when the moon is up
Capricorn is a summer Constellation and it can be best viewed in the night sky during the month of August.
Aquarius is a Summer Constellation. It can be best viewed in the night sky, during September. Like Capricorn, Aquarius also lies away from the main body of the Milky Way. It mostly contains dim galaxies with only a few star clusters and nebulae.
Pisces is an Autumn Constellation which can be best viewed in the night sky during October. Pisces contains just a few bright stars.

Malefic and benefic planets

Assalam oalaikum,

The underlying idea of the benefic and malefic planets in astrology is that the benefic planets tend to cause positive outcomes such as stability, gains, progress, ease, success etc. Conversely, the malefic planets tend to cause negative or undesirable outcomes such as instability, loss, obstacles, tension, and failure etc.
The benefic planets are as follows:
· Jupiter
· Venus
· Moon during its waxing period (located within 180 degrees after the Sun)
· Mercury when connected with benefic planets.

The malefic planets include:
· Saturn
· Mars
· Rahu
· Ketu
· Sun
· Moon during its waning period (located within 180 degrees before the Sun.)
· Mercury when linked with malefic planets.

By referring to a planet as a "natural" benefic or a “natural” malefic we are describing its innate, natural state as either benefic or malefic.

There is another theory known as the ‘functional’ or ‘temporal’ benefic and malefic planets. This theory is based on house ruler ships. For example, for Aries ascendant Mars, Sun, and Jupiter become temporal benefics because they rule houses 1, 5, and 9 respectively.

There are instances when even the usually positive tendencies of the benefics can produce negative side effects whereas the negative tendencies of the malefics can produce positive effects in the life or events of the native. For example, Jupiter’s naturally expansive characteristic may provide abundance in some areas of life when it is well placed but under some conditions it can cause overabundance or even excess.
Therefore, the benefic and malefic distinctions can be quite useful for us as long as they are used prudently Careful attention should be paid to the nuances and intricacies involved in the positioning of the planets and also the subtleties of our life in general.

How to create the chart of Saat

Assalam oalaikum,
As we know that Allah (swt) has created the entire universe, which is a well-integrated one. Allah (swt) has granted different types of energies to the planets of our solar system and the plantes affect human life in different ways. Experts from the field of astrology have determined the Saat of each planet and also their good or bad effects on human life. So, all important decisions should be taken after considering the right Saat.
The method of determining the right Saat before doing anything important such as fixing the date of marriage, investing money etc is as follows:
First of all, the length of the day and night are calculated. This can be done by finding the time of sunrise and sunset For example, if the time of sunrise is 5.am and the time of sunset is 6.pm then the length of the day will be of 13 hours and night will be 11 hours long. Now divide the day length, i.e. 13x 60 minutes=780. Then divide this number again by 12, which will give us a sum of 65. Hence, the Saat is of 65 minutes, in this case.
Now we have to determine that which planet is governing a particular day. The seven planets govern the seven days of a week. For example:
Saturn governs Saturdays,
Jupiter governs Thursdays,
Mars governs Tuesdays;
Sun governs Sundays
Venus governs Fridays;
Mercury governs Wednesdays
Moon governs Mondays.
The first Saat will start from the time of sunrise. This Saat will be of the planet that governs that particular day. For example, if the day is a Sunday then as mentioned abov,e the Saat will be of Sun.
On a Sunday the first Saat will be of Sun and the remaining 6 Saats will follow the fixed pattern as mentioned in point#3. For example, the remaining Saats will be of Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and then again Sun, Venus…repeated in the same pattern.
